Bucharest, June 14, 2012 – A group of 50 law enforcement Officers and Prosecutors from the SELEC Member States, participating in the regional workshop on investigating and prosecuting intellectual property violations and using digital evidence (June 12-14, 2012, Bucharest/Romania), paid today a working visit to SELEC Headquarters.
The workshop was jointly organized by U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) and Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC) in Bucharest, at Hotel Novotel.
Mr. Gürbüz Bahadir, Director General of SELEC, welcomed the participants and briefed them about the activity of the Center, under the new identity. More details about the operational aspects within the organization were provided by Mr. Corneliu Dragne, Criminal Analyst.
The activities and achievements in combating the cybercrime of the SELEC Task Force on Financial and Computer Crime were presented by Mrs. Elizabeta Ilieva, Police Liaison Officer of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
The presentation of Mr. Marjan Stoilkovski, Head of Cyber Crime Unit from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, covered the issues related to fight cyber crime in his country. Mr. Stoilkovski mentioned the Joint Investigation Gold, focused on a case regarding an organized criminal group involved in producing and using forged credit cards. This Joint Investigation was supported by SELEC and awarded the 2nd place prize for the first semester of 2011 by SELEC Bi-annual Awards Committee.
