Visit to the Customs Administration of Republic of North Macedonia

During the meeting held on 6 March 2026, in Skopje, between the Director General, Dr. Oguz Serkant Akın, the Director for Legal and Internal Affairs of SELEC, Mr. Jovan Peshevski, and the management of the Customs Administration of Republic of North Macedonia, the parties discussed ways to further strengthen regional cross-border cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime.

Particular attention was given to enhancing operational cooperation and improving the exchange of operational data with customs authorities of other SELEC Member States across Southeast Europe.

The Director of the Customs Administration, Mr. Boban Nikolovski, emphasized the importance of the partnership with SELEC, stating: “SELEC is one of the most important strategic partners of our country in the fight against transnational organized crime. Our cooperation focuses on combating illicit drug trafficking, customs fraud, and migrant smuggling. By further intensifying and deepening this partnership, we aim to strengthen security across South East Europe.”

Dr. Oguz Serkant Akın, highlighted the important contribution of Republic of North Macedonia as a SELEC Member State. He underlined that the Customs Administration represents a vital element of the regional security chain and expressed appreciation for its active participation and cooperation over the years.
