On the 23-24 of March 2023, the Director for Legal and Internal Affairs of SELEC, Mrs. Tanja Levajkovikj, attended the 3rd Danube Security Conference held in Brussels/ Belgium, having as theme “The European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) in times of transnational crises and conflicts- review and perspectives for future international police cooperation“.
The Conference was attended by high level officials from Austria, State of Bavaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Ukraine, as well as experts from DG Regio, SELEC, Europol, Interpol and representatives of several foundations.
During her intervention, Mrs. Levajkovikj stated: “Countering illegal migration, smuggling of migrants and human trafficking continue to be among the key priorities of SELEC. In order to respond to these serious threats, an increased cooperation at operational level and a strong judicial coordination between states and organizations at regional and international level are essential. On top of that, sharing best practices and lessons learned in the investigation and prosecution of smuggling of migrants and terrorism are key measures for countering this challenging criminal activity.”
