SELEC has participated to the EMPACT Joint Action Day, targeting firearms trafficking, drugs trafficking, migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings, coordinated by Europol and Spain. Law enforcement authorities from 28 countries as well as Eurojust, Frontex, Interpol, SELEC and other international organisations actively participated to the action. SELEC has deployed a police Liaison Officer at the operational centre and a customs enforcement Liaison Officer at Kapikule BCP, which is a major entry point between Tűrkiye and Bulgaria.
During the joint action days that was conducted between 26 and 29 October 2022, 382 arrests were registered and 130 new investigations were opened against traffickers using the Balkan route.
In order to achieve its founding purpose, SELEC will determinedly continue to support all its partners and Member States in the fight against transnational organized crime.
