National Crime Agency’s Conference supported and hosted by SELEC

On 2nd of November 2022, the National Crime Agency (NCA) organized at the SELEC Headquarters the Far Europe Regional International Liaison Officers Conference 2022 with the participation of subject-matter experts from Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Poland.

The British Ambassador to Romania, H.E Mr. Andrew Noble, and the Director for Operations of SELEC, Mr. Romulus N. Ungureanu, welcomed the participants and addressed opening remarks.

Mr. Ungureanu mentioned that “It is a great opportunity for SELEC to host the Far Europe Regional ILO Conference. This very occasion is another expression of the partnership between SELEC and UK’s National Crime Agency, a framework of cooperation that is benefitting all the law enforcement agencies in the region. The mixed threats assessments emerging in the region are challenging the response of the agencies, therefore we need to adapt our actions to the new environment and improve our support to the law enforcement authorities. “

The conference was focused on the threats of serious and organized crime from countries across Far Europe that have impact in the UK. The Liaison Officers in attendance shared ideas and best practices on how to tackle various forms of serious and organized crime.

NCA is an Operational Partner to SELEC since 2020, having a Liaison Officer posted at SELEC.
