The Director for Operations of SELEC, Mr. Romulus Nicolae Ungureanu, participated on January 29th, 2016, at the “Second meeting of the Joint Committee between European Union Firearms Experts and South East Europe Countries Experts”, meeting held in Brussels, with the participation of representatives from the European Commission, European External Action Service, Europol, CEPOL, and SEESAC.
The meeting envisaged discussing the actions carried out in 2015 for implementing the operational action plan between the European Union and the South East Europe on firearms, and also examining the actions to be developed in 2016 in regard to this matter.
During the event, participants proved interest in SELEC’s work in this area and in identifying potential ways of operational cooperation, some of the delegations mentioning as well, their constructive experience in using SELEC’s channels and platform for operational support.
Regarding this matter, it worth mentioning that, within the Anti-Terrorism Task Force established by SELEC in 2003, there is a subgroup dealing with firearms, namely the Trafficking in Small Arms and Light Weapons, coordinated by Republic of Albania.
