The Police and Customs authorities of Republic of Bulgaria and Republic of North Macedonia carried out a joint investigation code-named DUST that targeted dismantling an organized crime group dealing with smuggling of precursors used for the production of amphetamine.
After exchanging information through SELEC’s communication channel and based on the intelligence shared during the operational meetings, the law enforcement authorities conducted the relevant operational activities that resulted in the seizure of 550 kg supplements in Republic of North Macedonia, 3 members of the organized crime group being arrested and a vehicle, used for the criminal activity, was confiscated.
The countries’ Liaison Officers posted at SELEC facilitated the exchange of information and provided continuous support to the investigation. SELEC contributed to the case also by supporting the organization of the operational meetings between the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.
