On March 18, 2019, SELEC Management met with representatives of United States law enforcement agencies in Romania at the United States Embassy in Bucharest. The parties discussed opportunities to further develop cooperation at the operational level between SELEC and the United States. U.S. agencies present included the United States Department of Justice, United States Department of State, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Secret Service and Diplomatic Security Service.
The United States is a partner of SELEC since its establishment in 1999, currently holding the status of Operational Partner.
