The 22nd session of the Council took place on the 12 of May 2022 at the SELEC Headquarters in Bucharest/Romania, with the participation of the Council members from all SELEC Member States, Ambassadors, SELEC Management, Liaison Officers and Staff.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Hasan Oktay DUYGUN, Deputy Director General of the Turkish Customs Enforcement, as Republic of Turkey holds the Chairmanship of the Council for the year 2022.
Ms. Snejana MALEEVA, Director General of SELEC, welcomed the participants and presented the last year achievements as well as the latest activities conducted within SELEC, such as the signing of the Cooperation Agreement with HM Revenue&Customs, as well as the updated Letter of Intent with Japan Tobacco International.
The Annual Report of SELEC was presented, as well as the Annual Action and Working Plan for 2023, along with the budget-related documents, namely the Audit Report, the Conclusions of the 11th Financial Consultative Group Meeting, the revised Budget for year 2022, Budget of SELEC for the year 2023 and the Five-Year Financial Plan 2022-2026, documents that were all approved/endorsed by the Council members.
An important item on the agenda of this session was the elections for the three managerial positions, the election process being successfully completed with the election of the new Director General of SELEC, Mr. Oguz Serkant AKIN, from Republic of Turkey, the re-election of Mrs. Tanja LEVAJKOVIKJ, representative of Republic of North Macedonia, as Director for Legal and Internal Affairs and the election of Mr. Romulus Nicolae UNGUREANU, representative of Romania, as Director for Operations of SELEC.
The Council is the highest decision-making body of SELEC consisting in high-level representatives of SELEC Member States, having the authority to take decisions about strategies, financial matters, elections of the SELEC Management, applications for memberships and operational partnerships, as well as the conclusion of agreements.
The next session of the Council will be held in May 2023.
