Signing the Cooperation Agreement with the Albanian National Bureau of Investigation

In view of coordinating the efforts in enhancing closer international law enforcement cooperation, a Cooperation Agreement with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), a special structure of the judicial police of Republic of Albania, was concluded today, 12 of December 2024.

On behalf of NBI the agreement was signed by its Director, Ms. Aida Veizaj (Hajnaj), and on behalf of SELEC, by Director General Dr. Oğuz Serkant Akin.

The ceremony was held at the SELEC Headquarters in Bucharest in the presence of a high-level delegation headed by the Head of the Albanian Customs Administration, Mr. Genti Gazheli.

Mr. Akin stated with this occasion that “SELEC is excited to have a new partner and has full confidence that this cooperation will yield positive results for both parties.”

With the signing of this Cooperation Agreement, NBI becomes the 8th Operational Partner of SELEC, following the endorsement of the highest decision-making body of SELEC, the Council.

NBI’s mission is ensuring the implementation of the law in conducting quality investigations in the field of criminal offenses against corruption and organized crime, in close cooperation and under the guidance of Prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office, in order to prevent, detect and fight corruption and organized crime in Republic of Albania.
