Today, 7th of October marks SELEC’s anniversary, and we take this opportunity to address our appreciation to the law enforcement authorities for their devoted work and commitment to the SELEC mission.
During this time, when the world is challenged by COVID-19 pandemic, SELEC continues to support the law enforcement authorities in preventing and combating all forms of trans-border crime, including serious and organized crime. The newly functioning Operational Center Unit is bringing together information from the entire region, thus addressing a proper operational response to the different threats.
Recently SELEC extended its cooperation to the Middle East by concluding a Cooperation agreement with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, thus having now 25 Operational partners and Observers. We focused also on enhancing the cooperation with the banking sector in order to combat more effectively money laundering.
With this occasion, the Director General of SELEC, Mrs. Snejana MALEEVA, declared: “We are pleased to state that SELEC Intelligence Reporting Application Tool (S.I.R.A.T), that ensures a fast collection, analysis and exchange of strategic and operational information among Case Officers, National Focal Points, SELEC Liaison Officers and SELEC, proves to be a very efficient tool. Also, the virtual reality-based trainings were welcomed by the Member States, especially during these times, when mostly all events are held online. We are determined to continue enhancing our tools and facilities so as to better support our law enforcement authorities”.
