A recent joint investigation of German and Romanian law enforcement agencies, supported by SELEC and Europol, and facilitated by Eurojust at judicial level, with the contribution of authorities from Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Serbia and Turkiye, was concluded at the beginning of this month.
Simultaneous raids conducted in 15 locations in Germany and Romania led to the arrest of 4 individuals and the seizure of various goods and money obtained in the criminal activity of smuggling persons from Turkiye to Germany via the Balkan Route.
SELEC facilitated the operational meeting between responsible authorities from countries along this migration route and also the exchange of information between law enforcement authorities from the region that were involved in documenting the modus operandi of the involved criminal network.
This was yet another successful example of cooperation between law enforcement agencies across Europe.
