During 21-23 November 2023, at the SELEC Headquarters was held the Regional Workshop to Address Technology-Facilitated Trafficking in Human Beings organized by the Office of the OSCE Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in partnership with the Romanian National Agency against Trafficking in Persons and SELEC. The workshop gathered experts and practitioners from OSCE participating states from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.
With this occasion, the Director General of SELEC, Mr. Oğuz Serkant AKIN, stated: “Modern communication technologies have significantly impacted the way how the organized crime groups involved in international trafficking in human beings operate. Technology has extended the ability of criminals for different types of exploitation. What is urgently needed today is to develop effective and holistic ways of responding by pooling resources at the supranational level. A comprehensive digital transformation strategy and international collaboration are essential for law enforcement organizations to stay ahead.”
