Regional Workshop addressing irregular migration-related crimes in the Western Balkans

The Regional Workshop on Enhancing and Strengthening Cross-border Co-operation in Addressing Irregular Migration-related Crimes in the Western Balkans was held in Podgorica/ Montenegro, during 31 August – 1 September 2016, SELEC being represented at the event by Mr. Eliodor Tanislav, Romanian Liaison Officer at SELEC, Mirage Task Force Manager.
The workshop was jointly organized by IOM-OSCE-UNODC and gathered representatives of European countries, academia, NGOs, private sector and international organizations such as DCAF, Europol, Eurojust, Frontex, GIZ, ICMPD, MARRI, RCC, SELEC, UNMiK, UNHCR.
Mr. Tanislav presented the recent activities and major actions taken by SELEC and its Member States within the framework of Task Force Mirage on Countering Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration, shared SELEC Member States’ law enforcement challenges and good practices, as well as provided information about concrete cases supported by SELEC. Mr. Tanislav’s intervention was focused on regional and cross-border cooperation in addressing the smuggling of migrants phenomenon.
