On March 23, 2021, the final steps of the joint investigation code-named Skipper, on migrants smuggling, took place, with the support of SELEC. The Investigation and Protection Agency – SIPA (Bosnia and Herzegovina) arrested four people due to suspicion that they are members of an international crime group for smuggling migrants, which is suspected of smuggling over 100 migrants from Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past period.
In the same time, police officers of the Service for Combatting Organized Crime of the Ministry of the Interior of Republic of Serbia arrested 5 members of the above-mentioned group for smuggling migrants, including the organizer.
Operation Skipper is a continuation of the operational cooperation between the State Investigation and Protection Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Service for Combatting Organized Crime of the Ministry of the Interior of Republic of Serbia. In previous operations, 33 people were arrested following a joint action and several organized groups for smuggling migrants were dismantled.
