SELEC organized the 20th Anti-Fraud and Anti-Smuggling Task Force Meeting that was held online on the 22nd of December 2020.
Opening remarks were addressed by Mr. Valentin Niculescu, Director for Operations, and Mr. Dorian Dingo, Task Force Manager.
Mr. Niculescu underlined SELEC’ support in the fight against customs frauds and smuggling, and made some proposals as regards future operational approach in the framework of this Task Force.
The meeting was attended by experts from the SELEC Member States as well as by representatives of SELEC partner countries and organizations, such as Austria, Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors (CARICC), The European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), USA, and World Customs Organization (WCO).
During the meeting presentations related to joint investigations conducted in Southeast Europe, new trends, modus operandi and smuggling routes were delivered by the experts from the SELEC Member States, Partners and by representatives of the private sector.
The Anti-Fraud and Anti-Smuggling Task Force was established in 2003, has regular meetings and it’s coordinated by Republic of Albania.
