Official Visit

Bucharest, February 23rd, 2012 – A Japanese delegation composed of three Police Officers and three representatives from Customs, accompanied by Mr. Hiroshi Saito – Second Secretary and Consul within the Embassy of Japan in Romania, paid today a visit to the SELEC Headquarters. The Japanese delegation was welcomed by Mr. Petros Petroff, Acting Director in charge with Operations.

Mr. Petroff had the opportunity to deliver a detailed presentation including the achievements and evolution of the Center over the last eleven years, emphasizing the advantages to become an observer or operational partner of SELEC for any state or international organization which is willing to cooperate with the new SELEC.

Mr. Kenji Kusano, Superintendent, National Police Agency, presented the situation in Japan regarding the drug trafficking as well as the trends in this field. Mr. Kusano proposed to establish more concrete connections between Japan and SELEC (i.e. to nominate contact persons from both sides) and expressed Japan’s intention to develop a stable cooperation with SELEC.
