Meeting of the Heads of Structures Committed to Tackle Organized Crime in Southeast Europe

The 13th Regional Meeting of the Heads of Structures Committed Tackling Organized Crime in Southeast Europe, organized by the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, was held in Predeal/Romania, in the period 6-10 of June 2016, with the participation of law enforcement officers from EU Member States, Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Japan, Jordan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Republic of Moldova, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Republic of Serbia, Switzerland, Republic of Turkey, Ukraine, USA and representatives of SELEC, Europol, Eurojust, European Commission, Interpol and Frontex.

In the framework of the main topic of the meeting “Expanding Global Partnerships to Counter Organized Crime”, the discussions focused on the exchange of intelligence, modus operandi, good practices in investigating crimes such as drug trafficking, cybercrime, terrorism, illegal migration, and strengthening the cooperation between the main actors responsible for fighting organized crime.

During his intervention, Mr. Romulus Nicolae Ungureanu, Director for Operations, presented SELEC, its role and activities in preventing and combating trans-border organized crime in the Southeast European region, mentioning that SELEC provides tailored operational support to its twelve Member States in investigating organized criminal groups’ illegal activities.
