During 28 February-1st of March 2023, SELEC hosted at its Headquarters a meeting implementing one of the activities of the action plan within the framework of the EMPACT priority “Fraud, economic and financial crimes: Intellectual property crime, counterfeiting of goods and currencies” organized by the Bulgarian General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, the Driver of the EMPACT priority for the period 2022-2025.

The meeting was attended by experts from European countries, as well as from Europol, Eurojust, EUIPO, AAPA and US Department of Justice.
‘Having in mind the globalization of the organized crime activities and the enormous profits obtained illegally by the criminal organizations involved in committing intellectual property related crimes, the international law enforcement community should increase the support provided to the national law enforcement authorities in investigating such crimes. We may say that only through constant partnership and continue communication, whilst implementing new technologies and methodologies in the investigative work and equally enhancing the relationships with the private sector, the law enforcement agencies will succeed in tackling such criminal activities.’- stated the Director for Operations of SELEC, Mr. Romulus N. Ungureanu, during his opening speech.
