Following the swift exchange of information via SELEC channel, the Bulgarian and Romanian competent authorities successfully concluded a joint investigation related to drug trafficking with the purpose to dismantle an organized crime group that was trafficking drugs by using trucks. The law enforcement authorities found the place where drugs were kept for further organization and traffic to Republic of Turkey. It was revealed a network for drug traffic of ecstasy and marijuana, 200 kg ecstasy (500,000 pills) and 56 kg marijuana being seized in Republic of Bulgaria.
Suspects of Bulgarian and Turkish citizenship, who had a high position in the hierarchical structure of the organized crime group, were arrested.
Currently criminal proceedings are ongoing, the Turkish authorities being also involved in the case in order to provide information via SELEC channel about the arrested suspect.
