Within the joint investigation code-named ‘Tabachera’, handled between Moldovan and Romanian authorities, with support of SELEC and Eurojust, an organized crime group specialized in the smuggling of cigarettes was dismantled.
During the investigations, it has been established that an organized group was created in Republic Moldova with the purpose of smuggling cigarettes to Romania, with view of further selling.
Joint activities of Moldovan and Romanian law enforcement authorities concluded in 18 searches, over 12 members of the criminal group investigated, and 200.000 cigarettes seized.
