SELEC proudly marks another milestone in its mission to enhance regional security and combat serious transnational crime across Southeast Europe. The anniversary celebrates years of collaboration and joint action among Member States in the fight against organized crime.
Established through a strong multilateral commitment, SELEC has grown into a vital platform that enables seamless cooperation among law enforcement authorities from its 11 Member States, as well as a growing number of partners worldwide. Headquartered in Bucharest, Romania, the Center continues to serve as a hub for intelligence sharing, operational coordination, and strategic initiatives.
In his anniversary address, Director General Oguz Serkant Akin mentioned: “Our anniversary is not only a celebration of the past, but a reaffirmation of our shared future—built on trust, collaboration, and the unwavering commitment to safeguarding our region from the threats of transnational organized crime.”
Since its inception, SELEC has supported hundreds of joint investigations in areas such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime, smuggling, terrorism, financial crimes, a/o. Its Task Forces and expert groups have become key instruments for operational success, uniting the expertise and resources of multiple countries under a shared mission.
As SELEC celebrates this important anniversary, it remains steadfast in its mission: fostering trust, building bridges between law enforcement agencies, and delivering results in the service of regional and global security.
