Third Prize Granted to Bosnia and Herzegovina for Operation “BOS”

Sarajevo/ Bosnia and Herzegovina, April 23, 2014 – State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) from Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a press conference in Istočno Sarajevo on 23rd of April amid handing an award granted by SELEC to SIPA, for the second semester of 2013 for a successfully conducted action codenamed “BOS”.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Liaison Officer at SELEC Slaven Rosić handed over the award to SIPA Director Goran Zubac, as well as recognitions to police officers who were directly engaged on this case. 
Operation “BOS”, whose aim was to fight organized financial crime and corruption, was assessed as one of the best conducted international police actions of SELEC Member States in 2013.

Operation “BOS” in the field of customs fraud, tax evasion, smuggling and money laudering had the following results: arrest of 9 persons and seizure of cash money, stamps, financial and business documents, as well as other important documents which were used as evidences. The estimated budget loss for Bosnia and Herzegovina during 6 months period was approximate 1.75 million EUR. New cases were developed starting from this investigation.

SIPA was the initiator and main bearer of activities in this case, carried out in cooperation with police bodies of Hungary and Republic of Turkey and with the valuable support of SELEC.
