The Anti-Terrorism Task Force meeting– framework of coordination and operational cooperation on anti-terrorism activities in SEE

On the 28th and 29th of November 2022, SELEC organized, with the support of the Turkish National Police, in Ankara/Republic of Türkiye, the 8th meeting of the Anti-Terrorism Task Force, with the participation of relevant experts from all SELEC Member States. 

The meeting was opened by the Director General of SELEC, Mr. Oğuz Serkant Akın and the Deputy Head of International Relations/ Turkish National Police, Mr. Volkan Nalci.

The Director for Operations, Mr. Romulus Nicolae Ungureanu, presented the status and future development of SELEC’s Anti-Terrorism Task Force. 

During the meeting, moderated by Mr. Ertan Sozer, Task Force Coordinator, the representatives of SELEC Member States engaged in presentations and open sessions debates, sharing information regarding latest technologies used in countering terrorist activities. 

The event provided an excellent forum where experts and decision-makers from the law enforcement authorities and intelligence agencies presented emerging threats, national context and regional trends in preventing and combating terrorism.

The meeting had a particular focus on topics regarding the latest technologies used in countering terrorist activities. Moreover, the participants have presented case studies and submitted requests for assistance to the other Member States representatives. 

The objective of the Task Force meeting was to provide the framework for operational cooperation, exchange of information and to further support regional cooperation. 

SELEC’s Anti-Terrorism Task Force was established in 2003, and is coordinated by Republic of Türkiye.
