On the 9th and 10th of November 2023, police officers from SELEC Member States and SELEC Operational Partners Representatives participated in the 28th meeting of the Task Force on Countering Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration, a fora facilitated by the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center for law enforcement professionals, that provides a platform for sharing knowledge on trends, modus operandi and particularities of such types of crimes detected in Southeast Europe, as well as for networking and sharing good practices in criminal investigations.
Emerging trends and new criminal patterns depicted in the analytical report drafted by SELEC were analyzed and debated by the participants and innovative approaches to investigations of such crimes considering criminals profile, victims and migrants behavior, use of information technologies, potential threats and transnational character of both trafficking in human beings and migrant smuggling were promoted.
Future cooperation in Joint Investigations on specific cases was also decided following the trans-border connections revealed during cases’ analysis made by the police officers present at the event.
