SELEC participated in the INTERPOL Regional Conference for Europe, held on 20–21 May 2026 in Toledo/ Spain, event which brought together more than 140 senior law enforcement officials from Europe and partner regions.
The conference addressed key transnational security threats, including drug trafficking, cyber-enabled fraud, financial crime, human trafficking, and the increasing exploitation of digital platforms by organized criminal networks. Discussions also focused on international operational cooperation, illicit financial flows, and new tools supporting asset tracing and asset recovery.
Representing SELEC at the conference, Director General Oguz Serkant Akin and Director for Operations Chavdar Georgiev participated in high-level discussions aimed at strengthening international law enforcement cooperation and enhancing regional security coordination. On the side lines of the event, Dr. Akin had an in-person meeting with INTERPOL’s Secretary General, Mr. Valdecy Urquiza, reaffirming the importance of close cooperation in combating transnational organized crime.
