Banja Luka/ Bosnia and Herzegovina, June 12, 2014 – The joint investigation “WALKER II” carried out in a period of 6 months by the Ministry of Interior of Republic of Srpska/ Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Police authorities from Montenegro, Republic of Croatia and Republic of Serbia, targeting an organized crime group dealing with drug trafficking, was finalized on 11th of June 2014.
The joint investigation resulted in the arrest of 23 persons (15 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 6 in Republic of Croatia and 2 in Montenegro) and seizure of 130.55 kg of marijuana skunk (108.55 kg in Bosnia and Herzegovina and 22 kg in Republic of Croatia), 2.5 kg of explosive, dozens of mobile phones with SIM cards, guns and technical equipment etc.
After the successful realization of the operation, a press conference was organized in Banja Luka on the 12th of June 2014. Representatives from Ministry of Interior of Republic of Srpska/ Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal Police Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Police authorities of Republic of Croatia and of Montenegro participated in the meeting.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Liaison Officer at SELEC Slaven Rosić mentioned the importance of international police cooperation and underlined the significant support provided by SELEC to coordinate joint investigations in the Member States in order to decrease the drug trafficking in the region.
