Bucharest/Romania – June 23-24, 2015 – The Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC) in cooperation with U.S. Department of Energy/ International Nonproliferation Export Control Program (INECP) jointly organized a Workshop on Dual Use Commodities for Prosecutors and Investigators on 23rd – 24th of June 2015 at SELEC premises.
The aim of the workshop was to bring together law enforcement authorities and prosecutors from SELEC Member States to have discussions that would emphasize the value of strategic trade control systems and practical factors that make such systems effective.
The event was a two-day activity: first day included a mix of presentations on dual use commodities, global overview and current situation in the field in the Member States, while in the second day, a practical exercise based on dual-use goods fictive scenario was carried out.
The participants agreed that these kind of meetings have a powerful role for increasing the awareness of the investigators and prosecutors from the Member States with a view to prevent and fight more efficiently the illicit trafficking of dual use goods.
