11th Session of the SELEC Council

Bucharest, May 5th, 2016 - The 11th session of the Council- the highest decision- making body of SELEC- took place on the 4th of May at the SELEC Headquarters in Bucharest/Romania with the participation of Council members from all SELEC Member States and representatives of SELEC Partner’ countries, such as Republic of Austria, French Republic, Italian Republic, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Spain, United States of America, and organizations (Europol, Interpol, SEEPAG), as well as SELEC Liaison Officers and Staff.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Fredolin Lecari, Head of International Police Cooperation Center, General Police Inspectorate of Republic of Moldova, as Chairman of the Council, and Mr. Aleksandar Todosiev, Head of Unit for International Cooperation, Ministry of Interior of Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as Vice Chairperson of the Council.

Mr. Gürbüz Bahadır, Director General of SELEC, welcomed the attendees and briefed about SELEC’s activities, while Mr. Romulus Nicolae Ungureanu, Director for Operations and Mrs. Snejana Maleeva, Director for Legal and Internal Affairs presented the Annual Report of SELEC for the year 2015 and the Action and Working Plan for 2017.

The presented budget package consisting in the Audit Report for 2015, Budget for 2017, Revised budget for 2016, Five-Year Financial Plan 2016-2020 were approved by the Council. The second part of the session was dedicated to the discussions on the text of the Cooperation Agreement with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Elections for Director General of SELEC.

For this position, Republic of Albania, Hungary, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Serbia submitted their nominations. None of the candidates obtained the necessary votes, as a consequence, the position will be re-opened, on June 30th, 2016 a Council session will take place for this purpose.
