Bulgarian Police Officers awarded by SELEC

The Bulgarian Police Officers from the Unit “Crimes against Personality” from the Criminal Police Department of the Chief Directorate “National Police” were awarded by SELEC with the Third Prize for the first semester of 2015 for the Operation codenamed “BALKANIYA”. The investigation was about a murder case involving Republic of Bulgaria and Republic of Serbia which led to the arrest of 18 persons. The murder was committed in Serbia with the involvement of two organized criminal groups acting both on the territory of Republic of Bulgaria and Republic of Serbia. The smooth cooperation among the competent authorities of the countries involved was facilitated by SELEC.

The ceremony of granting the awards was held at the Headquarters of the Bulgarian National Police in the presence of Mrs. Blagorodna Makeva and Mr. Konstantin Dimitrov, Deputy Directors of General Directorate National Police, and of Chief Inspector Mihail Naumov who was awarded together with the members of his Unit for their dedicated work for the success of this investigation.

On behalf of SELEC, the certificates of appreciation were handed over by Mr. Svetlin Danailov, Bulgarian Police Liaison Officer to SELEC and Anti-Drug Trafficking Task Force Manager.

The Bi-annual Awards Committee of SELEC grant awards twice per year to the law enforcement authorities from SELEC Member States, as an appreciation for the successful joint investigations conducted through SELEC.
